2025/26 Men’s Over 60’s Championship

Congratulations to Ian Whalan & Tony Thurtell who are the 2025/26 Men’s Over 60s Pairs Champions. They defeated Keith Bell & Peter Roberts 22-21 in a very exciting Final.
Keith & Peter got off to a flying start, winning 6 of the first 8 ends to take a commanding 15-3 lead. Scores of 3 & 2 to Ian & Tony made the score 15-8, only for Keith & Peter to counter, picking up back to back singles to lead 18-10 after 14 ends. Ian & Tony then scored 5 shots over the next 3 ends to reduce the margin to only 3 shots, 18-15 after 17 ends. A single to Keith & Peter on the 18th end gave them a 4 shot lead with only 3 ends to play. The next end would prove to be pivotal, with Ian & Tony picking up a maximum count of 6 to take the lead for the first time in the match, 21-19 with 2 ends to play. A further single shot to Ian & Peter made the score 22-19 with 1 end to play. After the leads bowls, Keith & Peter held 1 shot. Peter would draw a 2nd shot with his 2nd bowl. Tony attempted to remove either bowls or jack but narrowly missed. Peter had last bowl to draw for 3 to force an extra end, but his last bowl didn’t quite make it, giving the match & the Championship to Ian & Tony by a single shot, 22-21. Congratulations must go to all 4 players, not just for their play in the Final, but in all the games leading up to it.
In the Semi Finals, Ian & Tony had a hard fought 20-17 win over Mark Skelton & Gary Stanwell, while Keith & Peter were in great form, defeating Jim Zrilic & Steve Blake 22-8.

2025/26 Ladies Restricted Pairs Championship

Congratulations to Karen Lyall & Maria Giorgi who are our 2025/26 Ladies Restricted Pairs Champions. They defeated Lois McKiernan & Donna McCormick-Ford 29-15 in a match where the end score doesn’t reflect the closeness of the match.
Lois & Donna started well, leading 5-0 after 3 ends, then 9-4 after 7 ends. Karen & Maria the picked up 9 shots over the next 4 ends to take a 13-9 lead after 11 ends. After 15 ends, Kare & Maria had a healthy 8 shot lead, 19-11. Lois & Donna then picked up a 4, making it 19-15 after 16 ends. That would be as close as they would get though, with Karen & Maria scoring 10 shots over the next 4 ends, taking the score to 29-15 with only 1 end to play, & thus taking the Match & The Championship by that score, 29-15. Congratulations to all 4 players on reaching the final, & putting on a great match for the crowd.
In the Semi Finals, Karen & Maria where leading 17-3 when there opposition had to withdraw to due exhaustion, while Lois & Donna finished too strong for Lesley Arie & Michelle Smith, winning 23-11.

2025/26 Men’s Restricted Pairs Championship

Congratulations to Ivan Akmadzic & Karl Muller who are the 2025/26 Men’s Restricted Pairs Champions. They defeated Jay Fischer & Michael Cochrane 17-12 in a very entertaining final.
The match was close early on, with Ivan & Karl leading 7-5 after 9 ends. Back to back scores of 2 saw the lead go out to 11-5 after 11 ends. Jay & Michael tried to wake inroads, but Ivan & Karl seemed to have the answers, going out to a 15-8 lead after 16 ends. Jay & Michael weren’t giving up though, picking up 4 shots over the next 3 ends to trim the margin to 3 shots, 15-12 with 2 ends to play. Ivan & Karl steadied though, picking up singles on the last 2 ends to take the match, & the Championship, 17-12. Congratulations to all 4 Players who put on a great final for the crowd.
In the Semi Finals, Ivan & Karl proved too strong for Guarin Tesoriero & Ross Koppman, winning 21-8, while Jay & Michael came from 17-12 down with 3 ends to play, then picked up a 2 & a 1, followed by a 3 on the last end to take the match 18-17.

2025/26 Ladies Club Triples Championship

Congratulations to Sharyn Beresford, Susan Supple & Michelle Smith who are our 2025/26 Ladies Club Triples Champions. They defeated Lorraine Bryant, Lois McKiernan & Maria Giorgi 23-22 in what was a thrilling finish.
Michelle & team started the better of the 2 sides, jumping out to a 9-0 lead after 6 ends. They kept the momentum going & after 14 ends, led 17-6. Maria & team then picked up a 4 to narrow the gap to 7 shots, 17-10, but a 2 & a 3 to Michelle while only dropping a single saw the margin go out to 11 shots again, 22-11. Maria would win the next 3 ends, but all 1s, to make the score 22-14 after 21 ends. The teams traded singles over the next 2 ends to make the score 23-15 & looked all but over with only 2 ends remaining. A count of 3 to Maria on the 24th end meant they need a 5 to force an extra end or 6 to win. They came so close, picking up a 4, but that meant the match & the Championship meant to Michelle’s team 23-22.
Congratulations to all 6 players, especially enduring the heat from yesterday & some rain today.
In the Semi Finals, Michelle defeated Glenda Mungkung, Donna McCormick-Ford & Karen Lyall 22-19, while Maria defeated Edwina Bohannon, Lesley Arie & Anna Brescia 24-19.

2025/26 Mixed Pairs Champions

Jasmine Smith and Joseph Clarke have been crowned the 2025/26 Mixed Pairs Champions following a hard-fought victory over Lorraine Brincat and Ben Twist in an exciting final. Congratulations to all on making the final stage.

This marks back to back titles for Jasmine and Joseph! Well done team!

2025/26 Ladies Over 60’s Pairs Championship


Congratulations to Sue Brooker & Maryann Parcell who are the 2025/26 Ladies Over 60s Pairs Champions. They defeated Lorraine Peel & Maria Giorgi 21-18 in what was a fantastic final.
Lorraine & Maria started brilliantly, leading 8-0 after 4 ends. The next few ends were shared, & after 11 ends, Lorraine & Maria were ahead 12-5. Sue & Maryann then picked up 7 shots over the next 3 ends to level the game at 12 all after 14 ends. With neither team able to win consecutive ends, the scores were still level with 2 ends to play at 17 all. The penultimate would prove to be crucial, with Sue & Maryann picking up a count of 4, to lead by that margin with only the last end remaining. Lorraine & Maria tried hard, but could only manage 1 shot, meaning that Sue & Maryann would take the title 21-18.
Congratulations to all 4 players who played outstanding bowls!

2025/26 Men’s Restricted Singles Championship

Congratulations to Mark Rashleigh who is the 2025/26 Men’s Restricted Singles Champion. Mark defeated Graham Williams 21-11 in a game that was a lot closer than the scoreboard shows. Graham started the better of the 2, jumping out to a 8-2 lead. Mark then went on to win the next 6 ends, including a max count of 4, to take a 11-8 lead. Graham countered back picking up a 2 & a 1 to level the scores at 11. Mark then went into overdrive, scoring 3 consecutive 3s to take a commanding 20-11 lead. The next end, Mark played a front toucher with his 2nd bowl, which Graham could not dislodge, giving Mark the game & the title 21-11. Congratulations to both players on making the final.
In the Semi Finals, Mark had a great tussle with Peter Warren, with Mark picking up a 4 to take the match 21-19. That was Mark’s only lead except for the 1st end in the whole match.
In the other Semi Final, Graham had a dramatic 21-20 win over Terry Harris in another great match.

2025/26 Ladies Restricted Singles Championship

Congratulations to Lorraine Peel who is the 2025/26 Ladies Restricted Singles Champion. Lorraine defeated Karen Lyall 21-15 in what was a great game of bowls. The match was close with no less than 8 changes of lead. Karen led 12-11, but Lorraine would win 4 of the next 5 ends, scoring 2 each time while conceding only 1, to take a 19-13 lead. Karen fought back winning the next 2 ends to make it 19-15, but that would be as close as she would get, with Lorraine picking up a 2 to take the match & the Title, 21-15. Congratulations to both players on making the final.
In the Semi Finals, Lorraine had a hard fought 21-16 win over Cindy Williams, whilst in the other semi, Karen also had a tough match, defeating Donna McCormick-Ford 21-15

2024/25 Ladies Club Fours Championship

Today saw the Semi Finals & Final of the 2024/25 Ladies Club Fours Championship. The day began under threatening skies, but the rain stayed away allowing for some great bowls. Congratulations to the team of Donna McCormick-Ford, Irene McBride, Lois McKiernan & Dawn Hayman on winning the Championship. They defeated Ann Richards, Olga Nazarenko, Jan Watson & Joanne Wai Wai 24-7. The match was close early on with Dawn leading 6-3 after 5 ends. Team Hayman then went into top gear, winning the next 6 ends to take a commanding 17-3 lead. Team Wai Wai then picked up a 4 to trim the lead to 17-7, but a 2, followed by a 5 saw the lead go out to 24-7. That was enough for team Wai Wai who conceded the match to Dawn & team. Congratulations to both teams on making the Final.
In the Semi Finals, Dawn & team had a battle with Robyn Murray, Milica Brkljac, Kate Morgan & Britt Camp, winning the match 24-18. The other Semi Final saw Joanne & team have a tight contest, defeating Anna Brescia, Pat Walker, Karen Lyall & Maria Giorgi 23-20.
