Congratulations to Natasha Russell & Brianna Smith who are our 2023/24 St Johns Park Ladies pairs Champions! They defeated Jackie Short & Maryann Parcell 19-15 in a fantastic final played in very tricky conditions.
The match was close in the early stages with the the score 4-3 in Natasha & Brianna’s favour after 6 ends. A count of 4 after a great conversion shot by Brianna saw the score go to 8-3 after 7 ends. The next few ends say Jackie & Maryann pick up 7 shots whilst only conceding 3 to close the gap to 1 shot, 11-10 to Natasha & Brianna. The next 5 ends saw Natasha & Brianna stretch their lead, scoring 8 shots & only conceding 2, to hold a 7 shot lead, 19-12 after 18 ends. Jackie & Maryann never gave up though, winning the last 3 ends, but could only manage single shots on each end, making the final score 19-15.
Congratulations to all 4 players who put on a great display of bowls for the spectators both at the club & on the livestream.
Natasha & Brianna will now go on to represent St Johns Park at the State Champion of Champions in May.
